2018: A year in review & looking ahead to 2019

As the sun sets on another year, Tonrose Chairman Terry Sheldon reflects on the 2018 and looks forward to what 2019 might hold for Tonrose and its customers.

Firstly, I’d like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of our customers; without your business, we wouldn’t be enjoying our 121st trading year.

There’s no denying the challenging and changing market conditions we’ve all experienced over the year – the consolidation of the laundry market, the difficult trading conditions and the uncertainties surrounding Brexit. And as a business we have had to adapt to these changes in conditions.

We realise that we have to supply even better value products by helping our laundry partners to launder our products even more efficiently.

We have invested finance and resource into a strong innovation pipeline through the Tonrose Labs team and we will continue to innovate, bringing our customers product improvements and efficiency savings.

Our One washTM bed linen range received a nomination for Best New Product at the LADAs, which is firm recognition of the relevance of the concept to the laundry sector. The One wash technology has also now been applied to our luxury 100% cotton Supreme Percale 200TC linen. The SeeMore corner ID system enables quicker feeding of duvet covers into the ironer, and our brand new quick-drying DryMore towel range saves energy and drying time whilst keeping the towels soft and fluffy. These are the innovations that are really making the difference to the commercial laundry industry and its customers.

The Tonrose brand and website have been given a full makeover to evolve the position of the brand to fit with the demands of the market – dynamic and innovative with strengthened heritage and textile knowledge. If you’ve not yet taken a look, I highly recommend you do.

The warehouse team has sent out nearly 6 million pieces and 100,000 cartons have passed through the warehouse. To do all this with zero accident downtime is a fantastic achievement and testament to the diligence of every member.

Our continued aim is to provide a range of even better value contract textiles on time, every time.

May I wish you all an enjoyable Happy Christmas and a joyous New Year, and I do look forward to working with you in 2019.

With the best of wishes,

Terry Sheldon,
Chairman.
